My name is Theresa, I’m 26 years old from the suburbs of New York. I struggled with addiction since I was 13.

I started out with alc and smoking and by 17 I was an H/ crack addict. My childhood was great, I had two wonderful parents but my father was very sick with Parkinson’s disease and ultimately died of cancer by the time I was 15.

I was released from juvenile detention and immediately left my mother’s home to live on the streets. I was homeless & lived in various abandoned buildings. I have been drvgged and left for dead numerous times.

I was in and out of rehabs and jail for years until 21 I became pregnant with my child. In October of 2018 I called my local MAT clinic & told them I needed help. I went back to school and had my son on the m-done maintenance program. My goal is to be completely free from it, it feels like liquid handcuffs and that is my goal.

I now have 4 years free of my DOC. I work full time while attending hygiene school at NYU. Recovery works!
