CLI Certified Associate Helena Blumen, Ph.D. is an assistant professor of medicine in the Saul R. Korey Department of Neurology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. The NIH recently awarded Dr. Blumen a four-year grant to study the effectiveness of an “imagined gait” protocol (visualizing walking as well as walking while talking) for helping relatively healthy older adults improve their gait and cognition. She predicts that imagined gait will help individuals through the engagement and strengthening of neural systems similar to those used during actual walking and cognition.

Congratulations to Dr. Blumen on furthering her noble enterprise!

Rather than Putin's toxic perspective, the world needs connective leaders now more than ever! Thanks in large part to technology, we live in an increasingly connected world, where we find ourselves connected in myriad ways to many others. Consequently, the need for connective leaders, who can bring diverse people, organizations, and countries together for mutual benefit, has expanded exponentially. We all have to do our part.

On January 22, 2022, the news was announced “…that the Secretary of Homeland Security is amending the DHS STEM Designated Degree Program List by adding 22 qualifying fields of study and a corresponding Department of Education Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) code for each”. This is of particular importance because Industrial and Organizational Psychology was one of the new inclusions. This inclusion in STEM Designation will result in increased opportunities for research funding in these fields. Through an upcoming event, the Connective Leadership Institute would like to share with you some of the current research being done using the Connective Leadership Model and our Achieving Styles Inventory (ASI), as examples of what that research looks like.
