We're collecting school supplies for students in our community, and every donation—big or small—helps!

CACD is deeply saddened by the passing of José “Djosinha” Duarte, a true icon of Cape Verdean culture and a cherished figure in our community.
Djosinha’s extraordinary life spanned more than seven decades as a talented singer, accomplished soccer player, radio host, and cultural ambassador. Known as the “showman” of Cape Verdean music, he brought joy to audiences around the world and proudly represented Cape Verde through his art, voice, and passion.

Through his legendary radio program Camin pa Cabo Verde, as well as his performances in music and sports, Djosinha helped preserve and promote Cape Verdean culture for generations at home and in the diaspora.

CACD extends our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who were touched by his life and legacy. May his music continue to inspire, and may he rest in eternal peace. 🕊️🙏🏽
