Overdose spike Alert ⚠️ in these local areas

RIDOH is issuing an overdose spike alert for increased drug overdose activity from July 4 to July 10, 2025, in Burrillville, Foster, Glocester, and Scituate (Region 1). These alerts are issued when a Rhode Island municipality or region has more non-fatal overdoses than usual in a week.

Check out the alert and access local resources for treatment, recovery & harm reduction: https://tinyurl.com/7xfxmwru

What is an overdose spike alert?
An overdose spike alert lets Rhode Islanders know about increased drug overdose activity in their municipality or area in the state. RIDOH tracks these overdose cases by monitoring statewide EMS responses and hospital ED visits.

Why are we sharing this information?
In Rhode Island, every city and town has seen an overdose. Illicit fentanyl continues to dominate the drug supply and has been detected in stimulants like co***ne, crack co***ne, methamphetamine, as well as counterfeit pills. Stimulants could be contaminated with fentanyl and put people who use stimulants at risk of opioid overdose, especially those who do not regularly consume opioids and have a lower opioid tolerance.
