Visualize your success to make it a reality - Warm-Up Message - June 3, 2025
We’re not just going through the motions. We’re here to build champions—on and off the field. Our standard is excellence. Our mission is bigger than softball. We play with heart, hustle, and grit. We lead with integrity. We grow through adversity. Softball is our passion—but character is our legacy.
In just two days, we take the field for our first tournament of the season. Preparation doesn’t begin with warm-up tosses. It starts now—with how you think. With how you see yourself.
Your nervous system doesn’t know the difference between a real experience and one you vividly imagine. That means when you vividly imagine yourself hitting a line drive, your brain responds as if you’re actually doing it. And the more you mentally rehearse that moment, the more natural it becomes—because your subconscious begins to accept that you’re the kind of player who crushes that pitch when it comes. Anything you consistently replay in your mind becomes the reality your body moves toward.
That’s powerful—but it cuts both ways. If you constantly replay mistakes in your mind, if you picture yourself as average, inconsistent, or unsure, your brain will accept that as the truth—and your body will follow. You will unconsciously train yourself to underperform.
But you’re in control—so choose to feed your brain vivid images of success. Picture yourself crushing line drives, making smooth, confident plays, and performing like the elite athlete you’re becoming. Your brain will believe that too. Right now, at the start of the season, you have the chance to mentally step into the version of you who is already succeeding. The more clearly and consistently you rehearse that success, the more naturally it becomes who you are.
Don’t wait to feel confident—create confidence. That winning feeling? It starts in your mind.
No one can create this belief for you. That’s your job. Own your mindset. Own your performance. You’re not waiting to feel ready—you’re preparing to dominate.
Mental Reps: Your Visualization Game Plan
Start imagining success like this several times a day between now and the tournament:
- Mentally step into the box. Feel the dirt under your cleats.
- Visualize your breathing calm and focused.
- Visualize the pitcher in their windup and the pitch hurtling toward you.
- Feel yourself perfectly time the pitch and engage your muscles in the correct sequence.
- Hear the crack of the bat as you crush your pitch.
- Watch the ball scream off your bat for a double, a home run.
- See yourself reacting quickly on defense—fielding cleanly, throwing with confidence and precision.
When each of you does this work—prepares like this, visualizes like this—you raise the standard for the whole team. We don’t just show up. We show up as Devils—on fire and fully prepared.
So when your cleats hit the dirt on Thursday morning and that first pitch is thrown, you’ll know—you’ve already been here. You’ve seen that moment. And you’re ready to own it.
Visualize excellence. Believe in yourself. And when it’s game time—Play Hot. Stay Humble. Be relentless. Be united. One Team. On Fire. We’re the Devils.
Visualize Greatness, Build a vivid mental image of your success
Warm-Up Message – Utah Devils Softball – May 31, 2025
We’re not just going through the motions out here. We are here to build champions—on and off the field. Our standard is excellence, and our mission is bigger than softball. We play with heart, hustle, and grit. We lead with integrity. We grow through adversity. This game is our passion—but our character is our legacy.
Okay Devils—while you warm up, Every throw, every rep, every breath right now is shaping who you are when the game begins. I want you locked in. This message is truly important to your success, not only in softball but to your happiness and life.
You don’t act and feel according to how things really are—you act and feel according to the image your mind holds of how things are. Think about that for a second: your performance follows your perception. If you see yourself succeeding, you will move toward that outcome. If you doubt, you will stall, hesitate and fail.
So ask yourself: what image are you building? Are you feeding doubt or fueling belief? That simple choice—completely within your control—will change your life for better or worse. So why not choose to build an image of yourself succeeding? Don’t let anyone tear that image down—and because it’s yours, don’t let yourself tear it down either. Instead, choose to make it stronger, clearer, and more vivid every day. Build a mental picture of excellence—and then step into it.
Winning isn’t about luck. It’s about preparation—and belief. That winning feeling doesn’t just happen out of luck. It shows up because you chose to foster belief in your success. You own it before the game even starts. You have the power to create that feeling—by repeatedly envisioning success instead of worrying about failure. When you step up to the plate, you’re not hoping—you’re hunting. Hunting for your pitch. Crushing it. When you’re fielding a ground ball or making a throw, you’re not wondering if you’ll get it done—you know you will. You’ve trained for this. Free your subconscious. Let your body do what it’s been trained to do. Move with confidence. React with instinct. The winning feeling is yours to create—and yours to control.
Remember:
Winning feeling is not luck—it’s preparation.
Train your mind to feel like a winner before you compete. If you’ve already seen yourself succeeding in your head, your body will follow.
Compete from belief, not fear. Doubt interferes. Confidence unlocks.
Don’t play to avoid failure. When you’re thinking about mistakes or fearing failure, you block your performance. Play to achieve excellence. Belief fuels action. Fear stalls it.
Let’s live our mission today—heart, hustle, grit—and make sure our character is what this game remembers. Visualize greatness. Choose belief. Hunt your pitch. Own the moment.
Play Hot. Stay Humble. Be Devils. One Team. On Fire. We’re Devils.

Practice Warm-Up Message Saturday 24th: "Your Mind Is Your Most Powerful Teammate"
"Devils—every time you step onto this field, you're not just training your body. You're training your mind. And if your mind isn’t right, your body doesn’t stand a chance.
There's a principle from Psycho-Cybernetics I want you to understand. It says this: Your brain is like a guided missile. It follows the target you give it. If you picture mistakes, fear, or failure—that’s what your mind locks on to. But if you picture ex*****on, power, poise, and confidence, your mind will go to work making that your reality.
That’s why we say:
Play Hot. Stay Humble. Be Devils.
We see ourselves playing hot. We believe in each other. And we never get too high or too low—we just compete.
So today, as we get back into rhythm, I want you to focus your mind like a laser. Visualize success—before every rep, every swing, every throw. Talk to yourself like a champion. Because champions don’t just work hard—they program their minds to win.
Let’s set the tone for this season—One Team. On Fire. We’re Devils.”
