Sharing a few highlights from Day 2 of the Republican Party of Texas Convention.
Congratulations to D’Rinda Randall on her election as State Chair and David Covey on his election as Vice Chair, along with all of the newly elected party leaders.
One theme that has been echoed throughout the convention is UNITY. We are strongest when we come together around our shared values and commitment to keeping Texas strong.
Another day filled with productive discussions amongst Republicans from across Texas, coming together to help shape the future of our party and our state. Looking forward to the events and conversations still ahead this evening.

One of the things I value most about serving House District 29 is being present in the communities I represent.
On any given day, that may mean attending a chamber event, visiting with local leaders, recognizing community achievements, meeting with residents, or simply showing up when invited. Not because one event is bigger than another, but because every community, organization, and resident deserves to know their State Representative is engaged and accessible.
Representing HD29 doesn’t only happen in Austin during the legislative session. It happens right here at home, in our cities, schools, businesses, churches, and community gatherings. No event is too small, and no invitation is taken for granted.
While it’s impossible to attend every event, I make every effort to be there because listening, learning, and staying connected to the people of this district is one of the most important parts of the job.
Thank you to everyone who invites me to be part of your events and activities. It is truly an honor to serve House District 29.
New World Screwworm Update
The State of Texas is taking additional steps to respond to the New World Screwworm threat.
Governor Abbott has activated the Texas State Emergency Operations Center at an escalated response level, bringing together state agencies, animal health experts, agricultural leaders, and wildlife officials to coordinate efforts and protect Texas livestock, wildlife, deer populations, and agricultural interests.
As Co-Chair of the Texas Sportsman’s Caucus, I recognize that this issue affects more than just cattle producers. The New World Screwworm poses a risk to ranchers, deer breeders, wildlife conservation efforts, and our state’s agricultural economy.
State officials are encouraging Texans to remain vigilant, check animals regularly for wounds, and report any suspected cases immediately.
We will continue monitoring developments and sharing updates as information becomes available. Protecting Texas agriculture, wildlife, and our natural resources remains a top priority.
As Texas continues its response efforts, it’s important to know who to contact if you suspect a case:
Texas Livestock & Pets
Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC)
1-800-550-8242
Texas Wildlife
Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD)
(512) 389-4505
or TAHC: 1-800-550-8242
USDA Livestock Hotline
1-866-487-3297 (1-866-4USDA-WS)
Federal After-Hours Hotline
1-866-536-7593
Human Cases
Contact your local public health department or the CDC Parasitic Diseases Hotline:
1-404-718-4745
Early detection is critical to protecting Texas livestock, wildlife, deer populations, pets, and our agricultural economy. If you see something concerning, report it immediately.
