We were out in the stable when granddaughter, Jane, asked to borrow my phone. She calls this “Turkey Taxi”. The turkey who hatched a chicken egg is still doing beautifully with her little chick.
This was the last of the blueberry bushes that still had fruit on them. This pair joyfully wrapped up blueberry season for us.

Getting used to their newly fenced pasture. Al enclosed a large area outside of the back door of the stable so the emus can go in & out as they please & we can still lock them up safely at night. So far they will come out if coaxed but they do enjoy standing at the doorway looking out. I walked them out this morning, they did a few dozen quick zooming laps & then decided they’d been adventurous enough & ran back into their favorite stall.

There are quite a few things that I adore about emus but one of them is the feather texture. I had been working in the yard & decided to walk out back to sip a little tea & sit for a visit with the emus. They were intrigued by my tea glass but were especially interested in all the weedy stuff clinging to my clothing. I finally put my arm up so the younger emu would quit pecking at my shirt. It is barely 2 months old & pretty persistent.
