What's next? After you finally finish the book you've been dreaming of writing for many years, what's next? For me, it lead to unexpected surprises, like the need to market my book. After all, how can anyone enjoy my crazy stories if they don't know about it, right? Marketing includes needing posters for book signings, the book signings themselves (which turned out to be fun because I got to visit with lots of friends and make a couple of new ones). Then there's taking the book around to bookstores and other retail venues and asking them to sell said book. And then there's the need for business cards, a page, bookkeeping, and such like.
However, when it comes to answering the question, 'What's next?" I was encouraged, and wanted to, keep writing. While sitting at my desk wondering what to write about next, my eyes fell upon a tiny orange Diary on my book shelf. I wondered what was in that Diary? After all, I've never been able to keep a real diary for any amount of time, even though I tried several times when I was younger. I pulled it down and realized it was actually a journal that I'd kept on a 16 day horse packing trip back in 1979. As I read it, it brought back so many funny memories, and reminded me of how little we knew when we started that trip, and how much we learned along the way. I decided to write it up and send it to Deb Hanson, my editor. It wound up being published on Kindle as a short story! It's called 'Sixteen Day of Fun and Misery' and turned out great! Well, at least I enjoyed it!
So now I'm back to "What's next?' and I have lots of stories in me, so stayed tuned!
