So I have a client who is raising her grandsons. They’re in middle school. She obviously pays for their cuts.

BUT her rule is that they have to come back to my chair on their own, they have to decide and explain to me what they want. She’s taught them to ask about my day and actually chit chat with an adult. And her main rule is she pays for everything but they are required to tip me themselves with their own money. (She also throws a tip in which is never necessary, but she’s just trying to teach them how to manage money and talk to people). You haven’t lived until you see a 12 year old reach into his wallet and try to slip me a tip like I’m a maître d’ and he needs a table.

I love it so much. They’re so kind and thoughtful and TRULY a joy to be around. I love seeing young boys being raised to be good and kind men. ❤️

My job totally rocks sometimes.

All too often, we are informed at a young age to grow up and stop playing. We are encouraged to attend to our life in a serious way and leave the playing behind us. Most of us take this nudging and advice to heart and abandon our playful selves.
Believing this path is the way to a successful and happy life. Well, it turns out that we might have been a bit shortsighted. Research shows that play is the heart of a happy life.
Play rejuvenates and revitalizes, it helps you see the world from different points of view, it rekindles your optimism, encourages experimentation, invites laughter and is all around just plain fun. So play more, smile more, laugh more, invent stuff, try new things, make mistakes and be goofy cause it is all this play that rejuvenates us, freshens our minds and makes life joyful.
