Light has a history.

Hanging in a family-built home along the backroads of Amite, Louisiana, this pendant reflects the innovative work of Danish designer Poul Henningsen and his layered shade system developed in the 1920s to eliminate glare while shaping light through reflection rather than exposure.

Nearly a century later, this philosophy holds true and is a core design principle here at LAYERED. Thoughtful designed light creates warmth, comfort, and atmosphere.

Some ideas never fade, they simply continue to inspire, elevate and illuminate…

The PH fixtures use a multi-shade system based on a logarithmic spiral, allowing light to:
• Reflect light downward
• Softly bounced light outward
• Partially reflect light upward to illuminate the ceiling
This creates even illumination with no visible light source, which was revolutionary at the time.
