🧑🚒 Escambia County Fire Rescue units E1, E11, E6, SQ3, L12, TWR6, Safety 4, BC2 and BC3 responded to a residential structure fire in the 7100 block of Blue Angel Parkway on Friday, June 12 at approximately 4:15 p.m.
ECFR arrived on scene to find a three-story apartment building with no signs of fire from the exterior, although alarms could be heard and water was flowing from the third floor. Once inside, crews found smoke on the third floor coming from a stovetop fire in one of the units.
Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the fire, bringing it under control by 4:24 p.m. The building's automatic sprinkler system activated and successfully suppressed the fire, preventing it from extending beyond the stovetop. Unfortunately, water from the sprinkler system caused significant damage to the affected unit in addition to two units directly below. As a result of the water and fire damage, the tenants from all three units have been displaced until repairs are completed. Thankfully, there were no injuries to firefighters or building residents.
The Florida Bureau of Fire and Arson Investigations responded to investigate the cause and origin of the fire. Escambia County EMS and the American Red Cross provided assistance for this response.
