Today's is about TICKS! 🤢

I hate ticks....they really serve no purpose other than to gross us all out, and spread diseases. They are a no from me. And I just had to share this email from one of our nurses, Amy, about a tick she found on her personal dog, Tilly!

Tilly is a tiny, special needs creature - so she is TRULY a dog who doesn't go outside. She is carried most places, and her tiny toes rarely touch the outdoor spaces because she has limited vaccines due to her medical history! So imagine Amy's surprise when she found this gross creature pictured in the photo on Tilly!!

This is such a wonderful example of the terrible resilience of ticks - they are faster then you think, they can easily crawl onto us and our pets - or back and forth between us and our pets - and can even be on pets that are strictly indoor! This is a great example of why we still recommend flea/tick prevention even when they are indoor only, AND year round too!!

Secondly - did you know that in the state of PA they offer *FREE* tick testing for PA residents?? This can be for any tick - on you or your pet - and screens for lyme disease, anaplasma, ehrlichia, babesia...and more!! We have a MASSIVE today - please join me in celebrating the one and only Dr Kristen Carpenter - who has been at PRAH for *TEN* years!!!!!

I think we can all easily agree that Dr Carpenter is the BEST. She is the epitome of what a veterinarian should be. She is kind, patient, compassionate, and she is ridiculously smart to boot!

I have known Dr Carpenter for 20 years now - we met on the very first day of orientation, in the school book store (I'm pretty sure I said something weird, lol) - and have never looked back. We were friends all through vet school and beyond, and our friendship is what brought her to PRAH all those years ago. She is a very genuine person and a wonderful friend, who has been an honor to work alongside professionally too.

Over the years, she has done a lot of additional training in ultrasound, and now performs all of them at PRAH - from abdominal to echocardiograms! She is also everyone's go-to for those challenging cases - her brain impresses me, impresses all of us really, and she can riddle out the most difficult puzzles with cases.

She is also incredibly hardworking. She will always go the extra mile for our clients and patients to talk them through a difficult diagnosis, and be there for them through all the ups and downs - which is one of the main reasons she has such a huge following at PRAH!

In addition to be a wonderful veterinarian she also juggles being a mom to her cute girls - Ava and Kylie, and wife, and spending time with her furry critters...it's tough to balance doing all the things, but she does it with style!

I am so grateful for Dr Carpenter - not only her skill set and heart, but also for her friendship, and so much more that she brings to our doctor team. So please join me in celebrating this amazing woman - happy my friend, so much love...and here's to many more years!!! 🎉

We have a July today - let's celebrate Kim and her 3rd year at PRAH!!

Kim is elusive in pictures....but as you can see that two of them are with her snuggling a furry creature - her heart is definitely in vet med. Kim is kind and generous, and has a very patient personality! She is so compassionate with all of our patients and clients, and you can tell she genuinely wants to help everyone she can with their pets!

Kim has a wealth of knowledge and experience in this field, and she is so willing to share her knowledge! She juggles the madness of our front desk with a smile and a positive attitude - and I'm so grateful for the badasses like Kim that man our front desk!!

So cheers to you today, Kim - so glad to have you on our team - happy and here's to many more!!!!

Hey wait - we have to celebrate a today too - today we celebrate Jamie and 6 years on team PRAH!!!

6 years, can you believe it Jamie!?! She has learned SO much in 6 years, and has become such a core member of our team! It has been awesome to watch her grow in her skills and her confidence over the years!

When Jamie joined us, she had some dog experience and lots of pets, but no formal veterinary experience. We enjoy teaching at PRAH, and Jamie wanted to learn....so she has grown and learned over the years - starting as a room assistant. Then becoming a main room nurse, and then training down in surgery and treatment to assist with even the most complicated cases! And now, she is one of our core surgery nurses and does an amazing job with any situation!

Jamie has the biggest heart - and not only does she truly care, but she loves what she does. And you can tell if you spend any time with her at all, how much she cares. She advocates for every patient that crosses her path, and will go out of her way to help wherever she can!

Jamie has become so confident too - she is a strong and skilled nurse, and it's been wonderful to watch her begin to believe in herself over the years!! As she should!

Outside of work she wrangles her furry creatures, and her daughter and family keeps her busy - she truly is go-go-go!! But I don't think she would want it any other way! ❤

Jamie is such a joy to be around with her sarcastic sense of humor and her deep compassionate heart - I am so grateful for her hard work and compassion at PRAH, and she can definitely make us all laugh too!

So here's to you today Jamie - happy 6th my friend, and here's to many more!!! Cheers!!!!
