Botox may smooth wrinkles, but it works by temporarily paralyzing muscles using a neurotoxin.

Before you book your next appointment, here are a few things to consider:
• Repeated use can lead to muscle atrophy over time
• Facial muscles play a role in circulation and lymphatic drainage
• Some women experience headaches, eyelid drooping, facial asymmetry, or a “frozen” appearance
• Neighboring muscles may compensate, creating new movement patterns and lines
• Botox doesn’t address the real drivers of accelerated aging: inflammation, poor sleep, hormone imbalances, blood sugar dysregulation, nutrient deficiencies, chronic stress, and excessive sun exposure

A smoother forehead doesn’t always equal healthier aging.

Personally, I’ve never used Botox.

Instead, I focus on supporting my skin from the inside out through hormone optimization, strength training, protein intake, sleep, stress management, and collagen support.

And yes, I use on my forehead at night. If you’d like to try them, you can use code DRJEN.

If you’re considering a neurotoxin treatment, I generally prefer Xeomin over Botox because it contains fewer accessory proteins and is considered a “cleaner” formulation.

No judgment if you choose Botox or another neurotoxin. I simply believe women deserve informed consent and should understand both the benefits and the risks before making that decision.

Healthy aging is about more than wrinkle reduction.

It’s about building a healthier body that shows up on your face. Follow me for more real life health from an integrative medicine doctor!
