All of the members of Peru Firefighters Local 383 want to say thank you, first and foremost to every one who came to the benefit dinner this past Tuesday to support Gavyn and his family. Seeing the number of people that came out for dinner that night made it all worth smoking pork butts for 3 straight days! 💨🐖

Secondly, we want to give a HUGE thank you to Harvey Hinklemeyers (Jeff, Josie & Zac Butts) for their donations and support to the cause. Harvey's donated almost of the food and supplies to us to help minimize cost and maximize the amount of money we could give to Gavyn & his family.

Special thank you also to Peru Community Schools for allowing us to hold the dinner at the High School the night of the Peru VS North Miami basketball game, and to Athletic Director Colin Quin for all the help and support we received leading up to the event.

Thank you to Marc Arnold and Arnie's Ace Hardware as well for the generous donation of wood pellets to get us through all the smoking!

Tuesday January 28th, Local 383 will be having a Pulled Pork dinner prior to the Peru VS North Miami Boys Basketball game to raise money for Gavyn Fritz and his family. Gavyn is the step son of one the members of Local 383, and he is also a member of the North Miami Boys Basketball team. We ask that every one from both school communities come together to support Gavyn in his fight against leukemia!

The dinner will be at Peru High School in the Cafeteria/Commons. The dinner will begin at 5 pm and run till 730 pm (Varsity Basketball game starts around 730 pm.

Applications may be picked up at the Main Fire Station, located at 85 W. Canal St., and on the City of Peru, Indiana - Mayor's Office website under the PERU FIRE DEPARTMENT tab (link below).

To be considered, applicants must not have reached their 40th birthday by the date of hire per the 1977 Police and Firefighters Pension and Disability Fund Rules. This was recently signed into law and changed by Governor Holcomb from age 36 to 40. Applicants also need to be at least 21 years of age at time of hire.

A written mental aptitude test will be administered Saturday January 11th @ 8 am. Applicants that pass the written exam will also need to pass the Candidate Physical Ability Test (C-PAT) to be eligible for further consideration. More information on the CPAT exam is listed within the application packet.

2024 Peru Fire Local 383 "Christmas for the Kids."

Each year, Local 383 Firefighters work with Peru, North Miami & Maconaquah schools to find families/kids that could use a little help during the Christmas season. Our Firefighters and their families then go shopping for each of the children on our lists.

This year, Local 383 was able to provide Christmas gifts to 27 different Children in Miami County!
