💚🪶 Good news from Point Blue’s Sierra Group: an endangered songbird is holding its ground!

A few weeks ago, we completed a survey for Willow Flycatchers at Warner Valley Wildlife Area. We found 40 breeding territories of this endangered bird, which is consistent with the population numbers we recorded during our first survey of this area 26 years ago. These results are especially encouraging because the area burned at high severity during the 2021 Dixie Fire.

It's a powerful reminder that healthy wet meadow ecosystems can be remarkably resilient and continue to provide critical habitat for wildlife, even after wildfire. 🔥🐦🌿
