Let’s break down my outfit and talk about why the shorter shorts are not just working, but are the correct choice.

🔥 Fit Analysis
• T-Shirt:
A clean, fitted black tee with a subtle graphic—simple but effective. It hugs the chest and arms just right, highlighting my physique without being flashy.
• Red Shorts:
Let’s just say it—you may not like hearing it, but this is the correct length of shorts for a man. Set decades ago by the legendary Tom Selleck in Magnum P.I., the bar was high back in the ’80s. These aren’t just red shorts—they’re a bold statement.
• Shoes:
A black-and-red sneaker combo ties everything together, keeping things casual, cohesive, and cool. They echo both the tee and shorts without feeling too matchy.
• Accessories:
A clean watch, classic belt, and glasses bring in intentional detail. Jewelry subtly finishes things off with a touch of personality. These extras say, “Yes, I thought this through.”

🩳 Let’s Talk Shorts
Men, can we PLEASE stop wearing knee-length (or longer), baggy cargo shorts? Honestly—they were never “in style”. Oof. Time to let those go. Let the go-sticks get some sun!

“But Dutch, I’m curvy! Jeans that fit my hips NEVER fit my waist!”
Or
“No jeans are made for my body!”

I hear you — but I’m here to lovingly call BS. 🙃
It’s not your body that’s the problem. It’s the cut of the jeans. And that’s a game-changer.

The good news? The right jeans DO exist. You just need to understand the architecture of your body — and that’s where I come in. It’s literally my job to know what’s out there and who they’re made for.

Happy Mother’s Day to all! I have the great honor of working beside and with some amazing moms and I’m a better man for it!

And. Happy Mother’s Day to my mom. I’m sure your mom is great...but MY mom rocks!!!

Luckily, I inherited her intelligence (well, a small bit of it anyway...my mom is crazy smart!) and she taught me love, sensitivity, caring, patience and compassion. And I inherited great genes. My looking decent at 53 is in no small part to my mom’s genetics. Apple - Tree.

My love of art, literature, languages, music, wine, food and everything French were all ingrained and fostered by her. She has been my greatest cheerleader and a rock I have leaned on my entire life. My life and I are better for having her around. And, and, and that lil, under 4’11 women still cracks me up...she’s hilarious!

Thanks mom for everything you’ve done and continue to do. I don’t know how I’d be the man that I am today if it weren’t for you.

Here’s a ‘lil peek behind the curtain of your boy Dutch. I’m a Star Wars nerd!

Some treats I got for myself to celebrate the day. I’m a huge reader of all things but I’m also trying to read all the books in the Star Wars universe. It’s a daunting task but I’m getting there. And the this Commander Cody figure comes with no less than holograms that light up in his hand! So I can replicate Order 66. IYKYK

Not all sneakers are created equal. Some are just... the moment.

Let me tell you—when I spotted these “Messi” sneakers, it was love at first pink. I mean, LOOK at them! They’re not just shoes—they’re a statement. And let’s be real: we need more men in pink. It’s bold, it’s playful, and yes—it absolutely works.

Now, I know it’s heating up here in Texas, but since I’m indoors styling clients, I’m rocking a long sleeve without breaking a sweat. I leaned into my winter color palette (black = a “wow” color for me ✨ IYKYK) and kept the rest of the fit sleek and simple. Why? So these sneaks could have their main character moment.

Because when the shoe slays, you let it shine.

Once upon a retail shift…

I was crushing sales goals, topping charts, and still side-eyeing the so-called “customer service” around me. Because let’s be real—what passes as “service” in most stores is just a rushed “that looks great on you” while someone secretly counts how many items you’re walking out with.

Meanwhile, I was that “weird” stylist—the one spending too much time with clients (yes, clients. You’re not just a “customer” when we’re talking about clothes that touch your skin, your confidence, and your wallet). I was the one saying, “Actually… you shouldn’t buy that, it doesn’t honor your body,” while everyone else pushed the priciest piece on the rack hoping you’d be too embarrassed to return it later. 🙄

And yet—plot twist—I still outsold them. Why?
Because I built trust.
Because I treated every fitting room like a VIP suite.
Because I saw people, not price tags.

So eventually, I said ✌️ to the sales floor and hello to my own white glove styling business.

Why white glove? Because in the shipping world, “white glove service” means treating rare, fragile, high-value items with extra care. And guess what? That’s YOU.

A lovely 80 degree day here in Texas which means shortsleeves and shorts are perfect…but there’s no need for it to be the standard dude uniform of t-shirt, cargo shorts and flip flops (that’s no way to go through life son). Instead, a well fitted polo in my season (TH makes THE polo that’s the best cut for me and it comes in a TON of great colors for every season), a great short and nice sneaks are an easy way to elevate “summer ware”. Throw on a good ‘shade and jewelry and voila - put together!
