AMEC Philadelphia

Philadelphia, PA is home to one of the most vibrant and diverse immigrants and refugee communities in the United States. To this very day, their needs and their challenges keep on increasing and despite the support, there is still a lot of need for supporting community-based organizations such as AMEC that are delivering services and working as a liaison between newly arrived and long-time underserved immigrants and the American society.

Your contribution will help us develop our already existing programs such as:

*Health Promotion and Education
*Business and homeownership skills
*English as a Second Language
*Interpretation and Translation services in Medical facilities and other settings
*Pantry, clothing, and diaper drives.

It will also contribute to launching more programs and services such as:

*Children and youth afterschool programming.
*More parenting education and support for first-generation immigrant families.
*Expanding our adult ESL classes and offering digital and computer literacy training.
*Secure a suitable and convenient permanent location for our organization and activities.

Welcome to our new page! We're delighted to introduce you to some of the work we have been doing and would like to do.

In the area of Health awareness and promotion of wellness:

*Regularly hold health education sessions on chronic diseases, such as diabetes, hypertension, and obesity.

*Raise awareness and educate the community about preventative medicine, travel medicine, and infectious diseases.

*Help the community in navigating the American health system- we offer them medical interpretation services, accompany clients to doctor appointments and visits, help them better understand the decisions they are making about their health.

*We also offer assistance in health insurance enrollment.
