The United Nations’ International Day of Persons with Disabilities is observed annually on December 3. This occasion seeks to promote awareness regarding the economic, social and political experiences of individuals with disabilities by encouraging greater public understanding.

This year’s theme, “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress,” highlights the need to create welcoming spaces where everyone can grow and succeed, making sure people with disabilities are part of every area of life.

The first full week of December is National Influenza Vaccine Week. The week, established by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), reminds us that even late in the season, it is not too late for individuals aged six months and older to get their flu vaccine to protect themselves and others from serious illness.
