My sweet Honey girl, you would have been 17 years old in June and it still wasn’t long enough. I’ve been coming home to this house filled with your love for so long I don’t know how I’ll do this without you.

I was wholly unprepared on that afternoon almost 17 years ago for how much you would change my life for the better. You have always loved me unconditionally, endlessly and intentionally. During some of my darkest moments, you forced me out and about and made me soak in the sun. You were the greatest ambassador for what rescue truly means, because the home we offered you was nothing in comparison to the love you gave us in return. You unendingly opened your heart and your home to a myriad number of dogs who stayed with us over the years, making each one of them feel welcome and safe. To this day you have countless canine pals who still light up when they see you, and who will look for you for a long time to come in this house that already feels so empty without you in it. To say you were a great dog is an understatement; you were without question one of a kind.

You loved your Sissy beyond measure, and she will never be the same without you. As for myself, I will miss everything about you, my darling girl. From this point forward, life has been altered in the worst way.
I will miss you forever and ever.
