Friends Select’s student Emmeline (Emmy) ’34 was featured recently in a CBS3 News segment for being a finalist in the Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival Student Design Contest! Emmy’s winning drawing, which she made in honor of the Year of the Fire Horse, has been turned into a large, illuminated lantern that can now be seen as part of the festival from June 5 to August 16 at Franklin Square. Congrats, Emmy!

In a new book, "Comics, Zines, and Graphic Novels in Art Therapy," Friends Select’s middle school art teacher Fred Kogan has written a lesson titled "Visual Storytelling in Middle School Education," which appears in the chapter "Comics and Graphic Novels for Q***r Therapists and Educators."
