When I learned I had cancer, one of my first reactions was how I would protect my children, most especially my daughter, if I wasn’t here, to protect them. The reactions led me to launch My Daughter’s Team, piggybacking on a marketing campaign I created in my first novel, “I’m on my Daughter’s Team.”

Like so many parents, I worried about the safety of my children when they went to high school gatherings, and eventually left for college; because we saw everything that happened around us when we were in high school and college. But we’ve learned the brutal truth from Clery Act statistics where colleges must report violent crime and r**e on campus. While at the same time, we know so many crimes against women go unreported because of the social stigma and brutally unkind US legal system.

So, with time of the essence, we’re launching My Daughter’s Team in hopes parents, families, mothers, daughters and especially sons, can rally together to protect our daughters across America and the world.

It’s easy to participate in our January 10th launch. We’re meeting in-person to learn and talk about ways we can prevent r**e and trafficking in the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, and across college and university campuses. 5:30 pm at Dana Hall, on Moravian University in Bethlehem, PA.

Simply put, over the year, we’re going to get into high schools and college campuses, meet with fraternity and sorority leaders and we’re going to ask hundreds of thousands of students, to be on My Daughter’s Team, and sign the My Daughter’s Team pledge!

“Across the world there is a war on women, our daughters and its time to stand up against it,” stated Kelly Lewis, Esquire, founder of My Daughter’s Team. “R**e, in**st, FGM and trafficking are all on the rise in America and it’s time for fathers and mothers to stand-up for their daughters and fight against these evil forces.”

Lewis is the author of Rheingold: Born Fatima, a book focused on ending female ge***al mutilation FGM. In 2022, over 3 million young girls were subjected to FGM. 10 nations in Africa still have 95% rates of young girls subjected to FGM. With border immigration, FGM is increasing in America. The book started the “I’m on my Daughter’s Team” movement.

Registration and networking will start at 5:30 pm, the program will start at 6:00 pm, and conclude by 7:00 pm. The event is FREE. Good Afternoon from The Gambia 🇬🇲

From The Gambia, West Africa. I am -- years old and a victim of female ge***al mutilation along with my multiple female siblings. I have been married since at the age of (before 18) and I have -- kids. My second born who is a female ( ) is now -- years old and at a very high risk of getting mutilated if I don't take urgent action. I personally at first hand, have seen and experience the harm of female ge***al mutilation. I have been married for over 10 years now and for once, I have never experienced any s*xual desires in my entire life. At first, I thought this was something normal, that having s*x is only pain and that you only need to satisfy your husband's s*xual desire while you only feel the pain. As I grow and mature and socialize with other female friends who were not mutilated, I learned that this is not normal, I realized that the problem is with me and the cause of the problem is the mutilation done to me when I was a kid. I don't want the same fate for my precious little one. There are no strong laws in my part of the world so strong measures are not in place to prevent this inhuman action against girls. At any time now, my precious little one can be mutilated if I don't take action as so many attempts were already made earlier. So far, all the baby girls born in my family and community are all been mutilated. The practice is happening everyday in our towns, villages and our surrounding communities . This is not stopping anytime soon in The Gambia I can assure you of that. I will be forever grateful if you can look into my story and help find ways to protect my little one. The damage is already done to me and my siblings and I know we’ll live with these scares for the rest of our lives but I don’t want the same for my kids and my siblings kids and any future girl child.
