Today is ! is nationally recognized as the official Catholic Giving Day that celebrates and supports parishes, schools, and charitable ministries. It presents an opportunity for Catholics, and all those who support the Church’s good works, to affirm their belief in serving others.

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, today marks our Archdiocese's 4th year participating in on !

Last year, more than $1.5M was raised for 102 parishes, schools, and charitable ministries in our local Church!

By working together, I hope we can surpass those totals this year. is an incredible initiative and the more we raise, the more we can help those in need. This year, a total of 169 parishes, schools, and charitable ministries across the five-county Archdiocese registered to participate. Giving to the initiative will remain open until midnight tonight.

Join Mercy Hospice, a ministry of Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, for our 4th Annual Recovery Walk on Wednesday, September 6th!

The walk will be in support of Mercy Hospice Recovery House and all those in recovery. Current and former residents along with CSS staff and supporters will be joined by Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia John J. McIntyre. Beginning at Mercy Hospice, the walk will end with a light dinner at Women of Hope on Lombard Street.

For over 40 years, Mercy Hospice has helped assist women experiencing homelessness stabilize their lives and achieve self-sufficiency. Named for its original sponsors – the Sisters of Mercy – Mercy Hospice provides housing and social services to women in recovery from substance abuse. In addition to single women, Mercy also supports mothers with young children. Women are offered life skills, parenting education, case management, recreational and enrichment programs, in a safe and loving environment.

Mercy Hospice is a program within the Housing and Homeless Services Division of Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

Mercy Hospice serves all people who come to them, regardless of their particular faith, race/ethnic origin, socio-economic situation, health condition, or sexual orientation.
