Many passengers on westbound voyages aboard the SS United States were deeply moved by viewing the Statue of Liberty from the decks of America’s Flagship.

Mary C. LeTellier, a passenger in August 1967, recalls her homecoming: “Sailing into the New York City harbor and seeing the Statue of Liberty at dawn will be stamped in my memory banks forever. After 3 years stationed in Germany, it is a magical site to see her torch held high at "dawn's early light."

As we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, will you add your support to our ongoing commemoration of an iconic American achievement, the SS United States? Her stories, and the stories of those who built her, sailed her, and are inspired by her are the cornerstone of the Conservancy’s future museum and visitor experience.

Please consider commemorating the semiquincentennial with a gift of $25, $250, or $2,500 here: https://form-renderer-app.donorperfect.io/give/ss-united-states-conservancy/2026-banner-form-copy

All gifts are tax-deductible, and we are so grateful for your support.
