5 days until we arrive in Malawi! Have you heard of the "Big Five"? It refers to five major African species that people often try to see on safari. Lion. Leopard. Elephant. Rhino. Buffalo. Liwonde National Park has all of these! Malawi's parks are managed by African Parks, an amazing non-profit that manages parks across the Continent, allowing for best practices, community integration, and coordination. They've reintroduced cheetahs, lions, rhinos and wild dogs (personally one of my favorite animals) since 2017. Can't wait to go see what they're doing at Liwonde!

Seven days until we arrive! We are practicing some Chichewa, a language spoken by between 7-12 million people in Malawi, Zambia, Mozambique and Tanzania. It’s Malawi’s national language (English is the “official language”). Where Kerry taught by the lake, the people speak another language, Chitonga, amongst themselves. Even if you don’t speak much, it’s helpful to know the basic greetings in a few languages. #
