What a muddy mess! And that's how we like it on Mud Day when we spill out onto our nature playground, blacktop, and Totlot for some muddy sensory fun--splashing and squishing, digging and cooking, crawling and sliding, and lots more.
But, Mud Day is not all play, it is a healthy physical and social-emotional activity. The benefits of mud play range from developing hand-eye coordination and providing opportunities for making marks (pre-writing!) to offering chances for measuring and counting to encouraging representational play. These sensory experiences build body awareness and control, are rich with descriptive language, and so much more.

THIS WEEK AT PIC: we got creative! We played pretend, read together, and experimented with science and art. All the while our teachers and children are laying the foundation for future success in school and in life. It’s more than just playtime—it’s purposeful learning.
