This Black History Month, we at Women In Transition honor the strength, leadership, and vision of Black communities, especially Black women, who have consistently shaped and led the movement to end domestic and gender-based violence. From building community-based support systems to demanding justice where systems have failed, Black women and communities have long led the work of protecting survivors and transforming communities.

Despite the fact that the movement to end gender-based violence would not exist without Black women, their leadership and impact are often overlooked. This month, and every month, we commit to uplifting Black survivors, centering Black voices, and continuing our work rooted in equity for all survivors.
