“It’s not you. It’s me.” Ever had someone say that to you? I have. It stung. Rejection, though often synonymous with God’s protection, hurts and can lead to heartbreak.…no matter the circumstances.

Grief infused heartbreak can be debilitating. Especially when you are a person who loves so deeply that you want to “make it all better” for those you love and care about.

And so it is with death by su***de. As a result it’s not unusual for one to be ladened with survivor’s guilt and grappling with the idea that they couldn’t “make it all better” for the one they loss to su***de.

For those who are grieving the “what if I had just….” moments in this season; this is for you…

It wasn’t your fault.

Grief in and of itself is challenging. However grieving a loss due to su***de can be complicated due to the isolating stigma associated with it.

Many mourn in secret because they’ve never disclosed the real cause of death to anyone. Long after meal trains, texts and offers to run errands stop…many are still left alone with their grief.

As a woman of faith, I believe that God can handle your fury. I believe that God can handle your questions, loneliness, anger, resentment, depression, triggers and tears. I also believe that healing comes in many forms.

So in this space of non-judgment, I encourage you to find what works for you. Be it your community of faith or your chosen family…find a safe place to vent. A place where the whole of you can show up, be seen, heard and loved without shame.

Therapy, crisis lines, prayer, music, exercise, group counseling, book clubs or even medication….are options. I pray you get the healing you so deserve. You are not alone. Love you to LIFE💫e
