🐝 Penn State Extension’s Summer Picnic and Bee Extravaganza returns July 18–19, 2026 at the Russell E. Larson Agricultural Research Center in Pennsylvania Furnace, PA for an exciting weekend dedicated to bees, beekeeping, and hive products!
Whether you’re just getting started or have years of experience, this hands-on event has something for everyone. 🍯🌻 Learn beginning beekeeping skills like hive inspections, colony splitting, and varroa mite testing, or dive into advanced topics including instrumental insemination, mite resistance traits, pollen collection, and performing a Demaree. Interested in hive products? Explore beeswax rendering, balms and salves, beeswax wraps, honey show prep, and more.
The weekend also includes the Pennsylvania State Beekeepers Association Summer Picnic, Beekeeping Olympics, drone congregation area-finding activities, native bee presentations, and tours of a mobile honey extraction trailer.
