I created a 7-foot-tall sculpture of Clarence Darrow that stands in Dayton, Tennessee, commemorating the famed attorney and defender of civil liberties.

After completing the monument, I also produced a portrait bust based on the sculpture. Here I am at Laran Bronze Foundry with the wax version of the bust—a critical stage in the lost-wax casting process before it is transformed into bronze.

It is always fascinating to see a sculpture evolve from clay, to wax, to bronze, each step bringing the work closer to its final form.

Today we honor and remember the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who gave their lives in service to our country.

It was a profound honor to sculpt the figures of the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard for the Air Force Memorial—individuals who represent dedication, sacrifice, and service to the ideals of democracy and the Constitution of the United States.

Memorial Day always brings a moment to pause and remember those who never returned home—the lives given, the families changed forever, and the freedoms protected through their sacrifice.

Do you know the secret that lies within the Nina Simone sculpture created by Zenos Frudakis? 🎶✨

Hidden inside the monumental bronze honoring her life and legacy is a bronze heart containing Nina Simone’s ashes ❤️

The sculpture stands not only as a portrait of the legendary musician, activist, and artist, but also as a deeply personal memorial—forever connecting her spirit to the work itself 🎹✨

💐 Happy Mother’s Day to mothers everywhere!

This is a portrait bust I sculpted of my mother. The photos show her posing with the sculpture, along with the work as it appears today.

When I was a child, she would give me small pieces of bread dough, and I would sit beneath the kitchen table shaping them into little animals. That simple act sparked what would become a lifelong journey in sculpture.

“I wanted to create a sculpture almost anyone, regardless of their background, could look at and instantly recognize that it is about the idea of struggling to break free. This sculpture is about the struggle for achievement of freedom through the creative process”
