Happy Juneteenth! 🖤❤️💚
On this day in 1865, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, delivering the news that 250,000 enslaved people in the state were free, more than TWO years after the Emancipation Proclamation was first signed. Today we honor that moment and all those who lived it.
We celebrate because freedom is worth celebrating, and we stay committed because we know freedom is never finished — we aren't truly free until we are all free. Happy Freedom Day. ✊🏾
