In 2018, my phone buzzed with a Bumble notification. I had a nibble from a cute Nigerian girl. I wasted no time setting up a date. She was barely halfway through her second year of med school. I was barely starting my second year as a full-time professional photographer. She loved cats. I loved cats. I immediately felt that we could grow together.

Here we are now, tall as Redwoods. We’ve embraced and accepted all that life has to offer. The beautiful moments, such as cresting the Appalachian mountains at sunset on one of our first road trips. The terrors of watching you graduate med school during a global pandemic and immediately start working on the front lines. The curiosities ranging from “I wonder how many miles I can use on this flight” to “how old is that honey mustard in the fridge?”

All my phone had to tell me that night in 2018 was that things would never be the same. I found home.

Bummed about the recent events at Graffitti Pier, what an iconic spot. A section of the pier collapsed into the water today, never to be seen again. Thanks for the memories old friend.
