MEE’s decades-long commitment to improving life outcomes in overlooked and underserved communities was featured in a spotlight profile this past weekend on Action News (6abc) in Philadelphia. The piece also pays tribute to some of the brightest minds in Black psychology and African/African American culture, who poured into MEE’s leadership and vision.
MEE thanks 6abc and its Community Photojournalist, Tim Mader, for their Black History Month profile on MEE and the brilliant African-American scientists (now ancestors) who taught us their approaches to “protective factors” as a way to move our communities beyond survival mode.

Across the country, state- and county-level health and human-services organizations are facing uncertainty, while at the same time they’re under increasing pressure to expand access to care and deliver measurable population-health outcomes. Resources are more scarce, yet, the needs in the community are now greater than ever.
We can maximize impact, even with fewer resources, by using effective, scalable strategies and tactics guaranteed to engage the communities most impacted by scarcity and at-risk for increasingly negative health outcomes.
MEE’s workshops and trainings are designed to rapidly strengthen the skills, strategies, and confidence of your staff, providers, coalitions and grantees—so they can educate, equip, and empower communities. MEE’s unique training model transfers skills that allow participants to take what they have learned and apply it (with community engagement toolkits to execute the learnings) in real-time.
We focus on outcome-oriented, evidence-informed approaches that help teams work smarter and more collaboratively to ensure that all population-health initiatives are “getting to real health outcomes.” This improves the agency’s overall communications ability to expand or build trusting relationships and, if needed, pivot or re-direct communities in the coming months.

This week, MEE is on the road in Albany, NY to deliver a day-and-a half of trauma-informed capacity-building trainings related to creating effective information, awareness and outreach campaigns addressing misuse of fentanyl, opioids and prescription drugs.
The NYS Office of Addiction Services and Supports is bringing MEE back to transfer important prevention communications and community-engagement skills to five FORx Coalitions working in rural New York State as they execute the tasks required as part of their opioid settlement funding. These sessions will be provided to Coalition leadership, members and frontline staff.
Our roster of offerings prepares public-facing staff to build real-world communications and community-engagement skills that excel in today’s evolving social climate. Learn more about MEE’s capacity-building trainings at https://lnkd.in/eCff7Cy.
