Philadelphia Drug Users’ Union is in solidarity with everyone who has been harmed by Sterling Johnson, a serial abuser who has used violent tactics against various individuals and movements including but not limited to sexual harassment, verbal threats, sabotage of jobs & funding, etc. We are in awe of the patience and love continually shown to him by members of the Black & Brown Workers Co-op despite his repeated behaviors. PDUU members have experienced similar, if not the same behaviors at the hands of Sterling. Had BBWC not stepped forward to expose these truths, more egregious behaviors could and probably would have followed. Therefore, we express our immense gratitude that our comrades, in their pursuit of accountability, showed strength through vulnerability by exposing Sterling's true self. Seeking nothing other than justice for those that are truly dedicated to the work, BBWC refused to allow intimidation and malice to silence them. We fully support these long overdue calls for accountability. It is our hope that the power and platform Sterling has stolen is no longer acknowledged to prevent him from committing more atrocities against individuals, the community, like-minded organizations, and collective movements so that those of us that have been harmed can continue to focus on the work and build a stronger path forward for collective liberation.

Philly police: Cop’s body camera caught his punch on apparently overdosing man who died Inspector Sekou Kinebrew said Friday the footage was a key part of the ongoing investigation into the incident. The 28-year-old man who was punched died a few minutes later en route to a hospital.
