The annual Delaware Valley Science Fair (DVSF) took place on April 6, 2022. Our chapter volunteers this year included Jason Martin (Merck), Chuanhai Tang (Merck), Ken Goldberg (Janssen), Arinjita Bhattacharyya (Merck), Michelle Kelly (Merck), and Wei-Ting Hwang (Penn).
Our chapter selected and awarded three science fair projects demonstrating the best use of statistics to Tushar Mehta,Bryan Wu, and Ashley Zhou

Ms. Biyi Shen is one of our Graduate Student Award recipients this year, started her study of PhD in Biostatistics at Penn State College of Medicine in August 2018. Her dissertation focuses on developing innovative statistical methods for longitudinal recurrent data with informative cluster size adjusted for zero inflation. She also has been actively participated in several interdisciplinary collaborations resulting in many publications.

Congratulations to Dr. Devan Mehrotra on receiving our 2022 ASA Philadelphia Chapter Practice Award!
Dr. Mehrotra is Vice President of Biostatistics at Merck Research Laboratories (MRL). Over the past 30 years, he has made significant contributions towards the research, development and regulatory approval of medical drugs and vaccines across a broad spectrum of therapeutic areas. He has served as a subject matter expert for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the US National Academy of Sciences, the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, and the International Council on Harmonization.
He was elected as a Fellow for ASA in 2008 and was awarded an MRL Presidential Fellowship in 2012. Dr. Mehrotra is also an Adjunct Professor of Biostatistics at the University of Pennsylvania.
