Join us on Friday, November 14th, 2025 at 6:30pm for a buffet-style dinner and presentation by Jason Hall, founder of the In Color Birding Club. Jason will cover his observations of the birding landscape before 2020 and the progress we've made since. It will include enjoyable bird sightings, the establishment of organizations, and some of the iconic birds in our region. He will then discuss the potential future direction for Philadelphia, arguably the greatest birding city in North America.

Join the DVOC and Academy of Natural Sciences this Thursday night (May 29) at 6 pm in the main auditorium at the Academy for a talk by Dexter Patterson, titled Birding is for Everyone.

Dexter Patterson — also known as the Wisco Birder — will present a heartfelt and inspiring session on the power of birdwatching to connect, heal, and uplift. With his signature joy and dynamic storytelling, Dexter shares how discovering birds led him on a journey of healing, purpose, and community building.

You’ll learn how birding promotes mental wellness, environmental stewardship, and meaningful social connection. From beginner tips to inclusive outreach strategies, Dexter offers practical insight and personal stories illustrating how watching birds can open hearts and build bridges.

DVOC congratulates Manny Dominguez, the winner of the 2024 Bob Billings Big Year Award! Manny saw 283 species of birds in the DVOC program area in 2024, including three species new to the count.

Please join DVOC and members of Bob Billing's family at the Pre-Meeting Dinner at: Asia on the Parkway 1700 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy, starting at 6:00 pm.

The award will be presented to Manny at the March 20th DVOC meeting, with members of Bob Billings’ family present, and Manny will give us a brief talk about his big year effort.

Then Maria Andreina Pacheco and Violet Lange will speak about their research.
