We are deeply saddened by the passing of Howard Rice, a towering figure in Philadelphia advertising. Howard was a fixture in our studios in the 80s and 90s, producing numerous award-winning campaigns. His popular Temple University advertising course boasts many distinguished alumni, including our own Rick DiDonato, who remembers Howard as “a genuinely nice guy who was a pleasure to work with.” Engineer Jeff King credits Howard with sparking his interest in audio-for-media production and steering him toward Baker Sound, and in-house composer Chuck Butler is “forever grateful" for the invaluable support Howard provided in the early years of Baker’s custom music division. Howard Rice left an indelible mark on the Philadelphia advertising community, and his influence will continue to be felt for decades. His kind, generous, gentle creative spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
