Today, May 19th, we recognize both National Hepatitis Testing Day and Arizona Hepatitis Testing Day.
This marks the third year Governor Hobbs has signed statewide proclamations recognizing May 19 as Arizona Hepatitis Testing, reinforcing Arizona’s commitment to eliminating viral hepatitis through testing, prevention, treatment access, and community collaboration.
Viral hepatitis continues to impact communities across Arizona and the United States, and many people do not know they are living with hepatitis B or hepatitis C. Increasing access to testing, vaccination, treatment, and education remains critical to elimination efforts.
At Hep Free AZ, we are proud to support statewide strategies that align with the CDC's goals and Arizona’s Hepatitis Elimination Plan.
This Arizona and National Hepatitis Testing Day: Get tested for hepatitis B and hepatitis C, learn about prevention, vaccination, and treatment options, and help reduce stigma through education and awareness.
Get tested today!

It's Hepatitis Awareness Month.
Don’t miss our next Hep Free AZ All Meeting on May 14th, as we come together during Hepatitis Awareness Month to learn and connect.
We’re thrilled to welcome colleagues and experts to share the latest updates on Hepatitis B clinical guidelines, including presentations from Vivian Huang and Richard Manch, alongside partners Isabel Evans or Daniel Raymond from the National Viral Hepatitis Roundtable to discuss Hep B birth-dose vaccination.
We’ll also take a closer look at what’s happening here in Arizona, specifically in Phoenix, with updates on the Safer Medication Treatment and Food Distribution in Parks ordinance, recently passed by the Phoenix City Council in a 6–3 vote and set to take effect June 5th.
Gain knowledge about Hepatitis B, celebrate Hepatitis Awareness Month, hear how the park ordinance will impact neighbors and communities in Phoenix, and learn about the broader public health implications following implementation.

Love your liver on Valentine's Day and always.
💛💙🧡💚 Hep C is preventable. It spreads through blood-to-blood contact. There are lots of pathways to prevention and showing your liver some love. Here are a few:
Don't share your injection equipment or syringes. Only use your own works.
Don’t share razors, toothbrushes, nail clippers, or anything that might have blood on it.
Go to licensed tattoo shops, be sure the tattoo artists use new, sterile needles and proper infection control.
Get tested for Hepatitis C. There is a cure.
