In light of the updated USA Rugby Competition Eligibility policy, the Southwest Rugby Union (SWRU) and the Southwest Women’s teams have agreed to the following:

We jointly resolve to never request a challenge to a player’s gender from USA Rugby. Evaluating the gender of a player based on physical size, shape, or features is always problematic and betrays the diversity that we embrace in our sport.

SWRU leadership will continue to ensure that the desires of our, and all, women’s programs are being represented and will adapt as things evolve to ensure that players are supported and protected moving forward.

Policies may change. Uncertainty may remain. But our values don’t waver, and our pitches don’t close.
