Let us take a moment to remember Rev Jesse Jackson, Sr. Just found out that he passed away this morning.

Date: Tuesday morning, February 17, 2026.
Age: 84 years old.
Cause: He had been living with a neurodegenerative condition (diagnosed in 2024) and was recently hospitalized in November 2025, notes the New York Times and YouTube.
Legacy: Known for his work with Martin Luther King Jr., his 1980s presidential campaigns, and founding the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, say the Hollywood Reporter and CNN.
Tributes: Leaders including Donald Trump and Kamala Harris honored him, with Reverend Al Sharpton calling him a mentor, as reported by CNN.
