Scar wants the prize, but his eyes are focused on me and my lead. He works for me. Is it a power trip? No. It’s a safety thing. It’s my job to keep this dog safe and happy. Eye contact reinforces the bond between handler and dog. The stronger the bond, the more clear it is to Scar what I want him to do. Clear consistent communication of what we like and don’t like makes the world less confusing to the dog. Take the lead. Have your dog’s back and they will have yours when you need it.

P.S. Scar is still nursing a knee injury. He zigged when he should have zagged. We should be back soon at full force with more helpful tutorials!
