Happy Turkey Day! 🦃
Every year, the American Farm Bureau Federation estimates the cost of a Classic Thanksgiving Dinner for 10 by having “volunteer shoppers” conduct a survey of prices at grocery store chains from November 1 to 6. The standardized dinner menu helps to compare costs from year-to-year.
In 2024, the estimated cost of a feat for 10 is $58.08, or $5.80/person. That’s down 5% from last year, which was 4.5% lower than the all-time high of $64.06, but still 19% higher than in 2019.
The estimated 2024 costs to be [2023 costs for comparison]:

Hello, folks! If you are on our mailing list, then you know that we launched our Substack earlier this week. Please say hello to Politics & Pentacles! 🇺🇸
In Politics & Pentacles, we're diving into the economics and astrology behind the current and historical political events that shape our resources, values, and financial access.
What do politics have to do with financial access? EVERYTHING! 💰
If you're not familiar with Substack, it is an online newsletter and social media platform that offers tiered memberships. You can choose to receive these newsletters in your email inbox or access them on the app or computer. You can also choose whether or not to interact on the discussion threads. That versatility and the ability to host long-form content make Substack quite appealing.
If you’re thinking, "Not another newsletter," don’t worry. You will not be automatically added as a Substack subscriber. We understand that not everyone is interested in political astrology, or maybe you're feeling overwhelmed with politics as a whole. That's fine!
You may also be asking, “Why astrology?” 🌠
History has so many lessons to offer about how to navigate the cycle of change and make better decisions than were made before. Astrology is reliably calculated, providing a wonderful overlay to historical events where we can glean patterns and add context to the political and social energy of the time. With any luck, that helps us see these patterns as they begin to show up again.
For example, we took a deep-dive into the astrology of last week's CrowdStrike outage, as well as the history around antitrust legislation. Was this a one-and-done incident, or can we expect to see more disruptions in the future? You'll have to read to find out! 😮
There is a free membership tier that will have limited offerings, but we're releasing the first few posts to everyone so you can see if the vibe works for you. There are also paid tiers, which is where most of our posts will be found starting in August.
Please check us out - we would love to see you in the Politics & Pentacles community! 💗

Rebellious Resources believes that it's important to know who you are supporting and what they stand for. This is perhaps true now more than ever, especially given that some folks have been unpleasantly surprised in recent days by finding out for whom their vendors are advocating.
We never want you to feel that way about Rebellious Resources, and let’s be honest - we’re not exactly hiding behind corporate doublespeak. Either way, we have always felt it was necessary to be very clear about our values, mission, and worldview.
These are our beliefs, and we hope they align with yours.
💗 We believe that financial access and inclusion influences everything in life and everything influences financial access and inclusion.
💗 We believe (to paraphrase George Santayana) those who are ignorant of history will condemn this and future generations to repeat it.
💗 We believe that education is the key to empowerment.
💗 We believe that reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy are basic human rights.
💗 We believe that the diversity within disability should be celebrated and included in all discussions at all levels - always.
💗 We believe that equality is important, but equity is paramount - starting points and barriers are different for each person.
💗 We believe that racial injustice still exists and must be combatted on a daily basis.
💗 We believe that love is love is love, and everyone deserves the freedom to live life joyfully as their authentic self.
💗 We believe that women belong in the House... and the Senate, and the Supreme Court, and the Oval Office.
💗 We believe that our vote is powerful and freedom is fragile - our rights can be taken away at any time and must not be taken for granted.
💗 We believe that the world needs more empathy, kindness, and support, and we want to set that example.
💗 We also believe in setting firm boundaries, so do not mistake our kindness for weakness.
Fun note: We actually had this post on our calender long before a certain sticker company decided to show their ass. Sometimes, divine timing is *chef’s kiss*.
