One week into September and it’s been soooo sweet (and silly!) so far. I can tell it’s only gonna get better from here. 💗

Word of the week (okay… wordS): SELF-MADE. ❤️‍🔥

I’ve had this shirt forever — the one that says ‘self-made’ stitched across the front — pretty sure I got it from Target.
Every time I’ve pulled it out to wear it over the years, I’ve associated it with money… it always reminds me of Kylie Jenner being called a “self-made billionaire” (which is a joke, but that’s another conversation).

Today when I threw it on before heading to the gym, it hit differently:

Regardless of the number in my bank account, I *AM* self-made.

It means more than just a $$$ sign (though being self-employed for nearly a decade is no small feat)…
But my body.
My mindset.
My business offerings.
My home.
My relationships.
The way I show up for myself and others.

It’s ALL self-made.

Even the parts I want to change. Even the works-in-progress.

Owning your story and reminding yourself that YOU are in control of your life — and you can MAKE it whatever you want? Powerful. 💥

How intentional can you be about the way you are making your self this week?

Over a decade ago, I failed with an all-white cat named Kirby. He wasn’t a good fit for my home and it was devastating to say goodbye.

Kirby was the last cat I had, and my shame and guilt turned into feeling like I just wasn’t a cat person.

Then came Jojo. 🐈‍⬛

I tried to get rid of him. We had a couple dozen people express interest from a Facebook post I shared, and he was set to go to a different home. In true Gemini fashion I wavered, and ultimately the thing that made me keep him was I pictured our family ten years in the future, and a black cat was there. When we threw out the name Jojo (which aligns with our Beatles themed pet names — ‘Jojo left his home in Tucson, Arizona…’) it just sealed the deal.

Still, I had a huge ‘what have we done’ moment. I was overwhelmed with integrating him into our home and was worried I would fail again.

That’s when my mom () — in all her wisdom — reminded me: he’s not Kirby. And that was what I needed to hear.

Almost overnight, Jojo and I bonded deeply — and now every night is a snuggly purr-fest. I can’t believe it’s only been a couple months, and I pray he’s still purring on my lap in ten years.

I totally *am* a cat person, I just forgot. What a blessing it is to be able to move on from shame and guilt, give myself another shot, and write a new story with Jojo by my side.

Kind of makes me wonder…
What else have I told myself I’m not — just because of one hard chapter? 🤔
