Hard to believe this will be our 7th year…not celebrating, but recognizing this day. It’s weird. But I can confidently say I’m proud of the progress we’ve made.
🎈2017, 2018 we started with the red balloon, which is still a great way to spread awareness to this day- in fact we have lesson plan for that (see website)
💉2019, 2020, 2021 we then moved to the temporary tattoos
➡️ Fritz had a muscle biopsy, which enable the establishment of a cell line. CRISPR constructs were developed and tested on his cell line, showing efficacy.
🐭2022 and last year we celebrated the birth of the ‘Fritz Mouse’ for further research by giving out mouse stickers, keychains and cheese cutters. ➡️A mouse model containing Fritz’s specific DMD causing mutation was engineered. A colony was engineered, characterized, and prepped for further safety & efficacy experiments.
💌2023 we are sharing our message of true strength with postcards, that not only raise awarenes, but they also allow you to keep sharing strength with those in your own community.
➡️ mice and materials are being prepped for the 12 wk pharm-tox study to measure efficacy of this therapeutic.
💪Your commitment and strength over the years has helped us make great progress is working toward a life-changing treatment for Fritz and so many others! We are grateful for the years of support and are calling on you all once again to help us honor this day, by raising awareness and continuing our efforts to bring great change to this disease.

💪Fritz&Friends exists to share strength with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy by raising awareness and funding life-changing research. Duchenne is a rare, progressive, muscle-wasting disease that occurs in approximately 1 in 5000 boys. We believe 'Strength is More than Muscle,' therefore we want everyone to know they can be strong despite their circumstances. We desire to not only share strength with Duchenne, but also with everyone we meet. From the first days of learning of our son's, Fritz, Duchenne diagnosis, we can attest that strength is so much more than muscle, and we as humans are stronger when we share our own unique strength with one another!
