Whether across the globe or just a few states away, Flinn Scholars use their travel funding to explore opportunities that shape their futures.

Flinn Scholar and Arizona State University student Rati Tabatadze attended a conference in Las Vegas where he connected with industry professionals and other students navigating similar academic and career paths in electrical engineering. It led to an internship at Kimley-Horn this summer focused on power and energy systems.

As another fire season rages across the West, two Flinn Scholar alums offer insight into the recovery of the Grand Canyon National Park's North Rim following last year's Dragon Bravo and White Sage fires.

Flagstaff-based writer Melissa Sevigny, in an article for the Grand Canyon Trust, explores what lies ahead for the less-visited region. Clare Aslan of Northern Arizona University's School of Earth and Sustainability examines how a tiny cactus is guiding fire recovery research. Clare is also a Flinn-Brown Fellow at the Arizona Center for Civic Leadership.
