I'm PJ! I am in search of a fur-ever home. Could you be my fur-ever family?

Have you missed me? My family wanted to give a little update on my new life. Did I mention that I am a very happy boy?

PJ is doing well! He’s in a loving home thanks to everyone. He’s our sweet boy. He gets nightly snuggles and sleeps in between us every night. He loves eating the food that his little brother drops from his high chair. He has been enjoying chasing the birds in the backyard. He met a stray cat, briefly, and was very intrigued but she ran away (probably for the best). He has a doggie friend named Callie and sometimes they play or PJ naps and watches her play. He’s livin the life!

It’s ME! I’m so happy to see what adventures 2023 will bring with my family. Happy New Year!

PJ arrived at AAWL in 2019 after being rescued from a dog fighting ring in Canada. After a year of rehabilitation with one of our partners, he was ready to find his forever home. Unfortunately, PJ was adopted and returned three times for various reasons, and had spent over 300 days in and out of our shelter.

When PJ ended up back at our shelter again, our team looked for a foster home to help PJ continue to build his trust with people. Our Behavior team worked closely with PJ and his foster family to help him become the best dog he could be while he waited for his forever home. It turns out he was already there. His foster family fell in love with PJ and how he interacted with their baby at home. Before they made it official, our team wanted to set PJ up for success in his new forever home, so they spent countless hours working with his new family to help give them the tools to manage PJ’s training on their own. PJ is now thriving and for the first time knows what it means to have a family who loves him.

It’s been made official. I have my fur-ever home! I love my new family. They take me hiking, feed me awesome food and work on all my cool tricks.
Thank you alll for helping me to find my people. I hope to give occasional updates, but for now, I’m gonna settle in my new home. ❤️❤️❤️

PJ the Perfect Pittie

I know, I know....Pit Bulls are supposed to be “scary,” right? Sigh....that is SO not me! Allow me to introduce myself- my name is PJ. I had a bit of a rough start in my life. If you want to know my story, you can read it here:

http://www.fox10phoenix.com/news/arizona-news/dogs-rescued-from-fighting-ring-now-looking-for-a-home?fbclid=IwAR2sPciEGV91Cw-7ScbHf3sHMuns-iu2N_MruWs5ynbg3wrgVvxH7j2Zz5o

Now- after you read that, you should know that you shouldn’t judge me off of my past or what kind of doggie I am. Yes, I am super buff! I love to run and play- and do anything active. But do you know what I love most? I love to be cuddled. What can I say? I can’t get enough! I am super affectionate and love people. I do prefer older children, just because I am working on my confidence!

As far as other dogs? Well, I like to play in playgroup with the other doggies here at the shelter, but I would have to meet your other pups if I was to join your family. I might be more happy being your one and only fur-face.
