She Devil Tattoo Co.

I opened She Devil Tattoo Co in August 2019 after working in the body art industry for nearly 15 years. At 35 years old, it felt like a moment of sink or swim. It felt like I needed to at least try, or I would never succeed. It took all that time to realize that success isn’t measured by being comfortable, but by pushing yourself out of comfort zone and doing what you’ve always wanted to do. It was scary. I left a company that was well established and going strong. I walked away from security and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. My little tiny space might not be much, but it is everything to me. It is something I had the chance to make for myself and my clients, whom I value to the moon and back.

I’ve always believed there is a special bond between a tattoo artist and client, even though client is such a sterile word. Not everyone in this industry agrees with me, and that’s okay. I know what’s right to me and my clients know that I care. It’s amazing to watch someone grow from a tiny first tattoo and eventually return for large pieces. I am gifted to watch them become who they truly are and express themselves to the world.

A tattoo is a precious, precious thing. It’s one of the only things left that we have in this world that no one can take from you. My client choose me, out of thousands of other options, to help them express themselves through art or words or symbols, and I couldn’t be more grateful. They have made the transition into my own space so incredibly seamless, and I hope they continue to return - even if just to say hi - so I can check up on them and see how they’re doing.

A “She Devil” originally was a synonym for a difficult woman. A woman who didn’t meet the expectations of standard female behavior. I welcome all people. I have opinions. We may not align on some things, and that’s okay. If you want an experience where you are the absolute most important person in the room, then I can provide that. If you’d prefer to operate on whim, then I will be here when you’re ready to graduate. Never settle for what you want and make no apologies for it. I finally stopped settling and I’ve never been happier or felt freer.
