NAMI Arizona welcomes our new Executive Director Laqwanda Roberts-Buckley. Laqwanda is a peer, family member, and new caregiver who openly shares her experiences living with Bipolar I Disorder and PTSD. Laqwanda has been committed to the field of mental health for 20 years. She has held roles in higher education as Program Administrator of Mental Health & Wellness, Coordinator of Mental Health & Wellness, and Mental Health Therapist.

Laqwanda’s experience expands from community to national level serving as Emergency Mental Health Therapist for community based mental health organizations and the Director of Outreach at the national office of Mental Health America. She is a public speaker who has travelled the country advocating for mental health.

Presently, she is the Vice President of the Board of Directors for a local nonprofit and has served on a NAMI affiliate board in addition to a board on Virginia based nonprofit.

Laqwanda is a Reiki Master, certified life coach, and a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. Currently, she is a doctoral student at Arizona State University, holds a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee, and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Jackson State University. She enjoys crocheting, sewing, coloring, watching anime, making cosplays with her daughter, and reading.

Our Executive Director will be hosting virtual Meet and Greets with official announcements with dates/times to come.
