On this day, June 5, 1944, General Dwight D. Eisenhower met with paratroopers of the 101st Airborne Division at RAF Greenham Common just hours before the launch of D-Day.

Captured in one of the most iconic photographs of World War II, Eisenhower is seen offering words of encouragement to the young Soldiers before their perilous nighttime mission into occupied France. The image endures as a powerful reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and leadership that helped shape the outcome of the Allied invasion and the course of history.

We had another special RED Shirt Friday Veterans Café at Desert Blossom Health & Rehab in Mesa, Arizona. Great company, conversations, and sharing fellowship together.

Over coffee and donuts, Veterans shared stories of service, sacrifice, and military life. The morning was filled with meaningful conversation and camaraderie, reminding us of the lasting bonds forged through service.

We took time to remember and honor our fallen and the legacy they leave behind. We also gathered to celebrate a special birthday, sharing a moment of reflection, gratitude, and joy together.

We are deeply grateful to the Desert Blossom staff and our outstanding volunteers. Their compassion, dedication, and heartfelt care create a meaningful impact every day. Thanks to them, Veterans in long-term care feel seen, heard, supported, and remembered.

We don't wear Veteran caps to impress people. We wear them to find each other.

A Veteran cap is more than a symbol of service, it’s a signal. It helps Veterans recognize one another, start conversations, and build connections that can make a real difference.

Many of the challenges in our Veteran community are best addressed through conversation and connection. Sometimes a simple question like, "Where did you serve?" can lead to friendship, support, or encouragement when it's needed most.

Wear your cap proudly. You never know whose day you might brighten or what meaningful connection might begin with a simple conversation.
