For some people, adopting a Sonoran desert tortoise evokes beautiful memories connected to family and childhood. That's the case for Paige, who recently adopted a Sonoran desert tortoise named Matilda. Paige hopes Matilda will now create similar generational connections for her children.

These bright blobs are the result of the highly-invasive apple snail, a large snail that poses a threat to native species in Arizona.
