Comment “TUMMY” for exercises to encourage tummy time to build postural control and visual processing.
Believe it or not, tummy time is essential to building neural connections in the brain for higher learning skills needed in the classroom. Simple tummy time activities can help a child sit in their chair to listen to the teacher without wiggling or squirming. In addition, it helps build a child’s visual motor skills for tracking and reading too!
Tummy time is one of the key foundational components of helping babies strengthen the following:
💪Muscle tone for handwriting, posture and sitting upright at a desk
👶Neck Control for moving the head to track words across the page
👀Eye Control for tracking, recognizing words on the page, processing what they’ve read
How much tummy time does my child need?
👶4 waking hours in the prone position (broken up throughout the day)
👶Babies younger than three months old, at least 30 to 60 minutes (broken up throughout the day)
👶By three months, increase your child’s tummy time to 90 minutes per day (small increments are best).
For recommended exercises to help build tummy time skills and more information on the importance, comment “TUMMY” and we’ll send you the link.
